The roster for the U.S. team at the annual NIKE Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon was announced last week. Most of the team is comprised players who have competed in events with USA Basketball though three of the current ESPN Top 10 ranked recruits, guard Anthony Edwards of Holy Spirit Academy in Atlanta, forward Jaden McDaniels of Federal Way, Washington and forward Kahlil Whitney of Roselle Catholic in New Jersey, were left of out. USA Basketball that selected the team said its selection was based in large part on participation in October and June youth training camps as well as international junior events.
The team has added size and defense after being blown out by a team of international stars and losing four of the games in the past seven years. All of the players with the exception of guard Cole Anthony of Oak Hill Academy and forward Matthew Hurt have signed with colleges for next year. Two teams, Villanova (Jeremiah Robinson and Earl, Justin Moore) and Duke (Vern Carey and Wendell Moore), had two players on the roster.
